The Burial of the Count of Orgaz by El Greco

The Burial of the Count of Orgaz is painted by El Greco in 1586, illustrating a popular local legend of his time. This painting is split into two parts, the heavens and Earth, but El Greco put both sections together very well. The Burial of the Count of Orgaz was not only admired because of the magnificent art, but also because it was a gallery of portraits of the most eminent social figures of his time in Toledo. In the upper section, the heavens, the clouds seem to be parting to welcome this man into Paradise. This painting has a beautiful choice of colors and an immense amount of detail put into it.
