Giovanni Arnolfini And His Wife

Eyck-1

Above is the painting Giovanni Arnolfini And His Wife painted by Jan Van Eyck. Jan Van Eyck was a northern Italian renaissance artist. These artist focused on minute details and painted nature. In the painting you can notice many different minute details that Jan Van Eyck has put into the painting. For example you can see the wrinkles at the bottom of the green dress the woman on the right is wearing. You can also see the light shining from the window onto the man and woman’s face as well as the wall behind them. Also directly under the chandelier there is some text. It says Johannes de Eyck to announce he was present. On the bottom left corner of the painting there are a pair of slippers that appear to be in a somewhat messy location. The last minute detail I have spotted is the occurrence of a shadow behind the man.
